On December 9, 2009, Dr. Dennis P. Stolle spoke at the American Conference Institute’s 14th Annual Drug and Medical Device Litigation Conference in New York. Dr. Stolle co-presented with Teri Cotton-Santos of Eli Lilly and Company. Their presentation, titled Selecting Jurors and Coping with Juror Misconduct in the Age of Web 2.0, focused on the impact of Web 2.0 and social networking on the jury trial process, including the phenomenon that has come to be known as the “Google mistrial.” Dr. Stolle provided tips, techniques, and strategies for trial teams on how to use the Internet to their advantage during trial preparation and to prevent and cope with the possibility of juror misconduct resulting from jurors conducting outside research on the Internet during trial or during deliberations.
