Dr. Stolle is a trial consultant who works with clients to develop persuasive trial themes and effective trial strategies in civil and criminal matters pending throughout the United States. He also designs and conducts empirical research, including jury simulation studies, focus groups, mock trials, surveys, public opinion polls, and post-trial juror interviews. Dr. Stolle has been a member of national product defense teams for Fortune 500 companies in multiple industries, providing advice regarding judicial and jury decision making, theme development, voir dire, jury selection, and trial and settlement strategies. He also routinely consults on a wide variety of matters beyond products liability litigation, including white collar criminal defense matters, intellectual property cases (patent, trade secrets, trademark, and copyright), commercial class actions, employment discrimination claims, sexual harassment claims, insurance coverage actions, and complex commercial litigation.

Before beginning his career as a trial consultant and jury consultant, Dr. Stolle received his Ph.D. in social psychology from the University of Nebraska's Law/Psychology Program, where he studied jury research, jury selection, and jury decision making with Dr. Steven Penrod. Prior to completing his Ph.D., he graduated with high distinction from the University of Nebraska College of Law, where he was the research editor of the Nebraska Law Review and became a member of the Order of the Coif. After receiving his law degree, he taught legal research and writing at the Nebraska College of Law while continuing his doctoral dissertation, which was funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation. He received his Master of Arts degree in social psychology from the University of Nebraska and his Bachelor of Science in psychology summa cum laude from St. Louis University, where he also studied jury research, jury decision making, and jury selection with Dr. Richard Wiener.

Dr. Stolle routinely gives presentations and seminars on trial theme development, jury research, jury selection, voir dire, judicial decision making, and legal psychology to in-house counsel, litigators, trial consultants, and academics throughout the United States and in Europe. He serves as a peer-reviewer for some of the leading jury research journals, including Law & Human Behavior, Journal of Empirical Legal Studies, and Psychology, Public Policy & the Law. He is the editor (with David Wexler and Bruce Winick) of a book on legal psychology, published by Carolina Academic Press in 2000. Extremely favorable reviews of his book have been featured in ABA Journal, New York Law Journal, Florida Bar Journal, and Judicature. Dr. Stolle is also a regular contributor to the peer-reviewed literature on judicial decision making, jury decision making, jury selection, and legal psychology, often collaborating on empirical research with Dr. Dennis Devine of Indiana University. Most recently, Dr. Stolle has published empirical research on the deliberations and decision-making processes of criminal juries in Indiana.

Dr. Stolle is also frequently sought out by journalists for commentary on jury selection and trial strategies in high-profile cases. He has been quoted regarding jury selection and jury trials in the Washington Post, the New Jersey Lawyer, the Pittsburgh-Post Gazette, the New Jersey Law Journal, the Indianapolis Star, the Indiana Lawyer, the Louisville Courier-Journal, and many other publications. Dr. Stolle is a member of the New Media Program Founding Board of Advisors at Indiana University’s School of Informatics, a barrister in the Sagamore Inn of Court, a member of the American Society of Trial Consultants, and a member of the American Psychology and Law Society. He is also a partner in Barnes & Thornburg LLP, with which ThemeVision LLC is affiliated.
